Roadway Safety Matters
Kersey faces a critical safety challenge. According to the Fatality Analysis Reporting System (FARS), our Town had two roadway fatalities between 2017 and 2021—a rate of 26.8 per 100,000, which exceeds national averages and places Kersey in the “High Fatality Rate” category. The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) data reveals an additional fatality, raising our estimated rate to 40.1 per 100,000.
Beyond fatalities, our community has seen serious injuries that impact families, neighborhoods, and emergency services. That’s why we’re acting—to eliminate all roadway deaths and serious injuries in Kersey and improve mobility for everyone, including drivers, pedestrians, and bicyclists.
